2015 Biology By the Book Project Dates
Friday January 30 – Report in class on first ½ of book.
Friday February 6 – Report in class on completed book.
Late February/Early March: Work in Biology Class on written project based on topics covered in book.
Bio By Book Paper Guidelines:
Bio by the book Paper
1-2 pages in length, double-spaced, no ridiculous title spacing.
P1 Intro:
The intro paragraph should convey what BOOK you read and the topic you chose for your follow-up research. You should mention where you got your follow-up articles and if they were useful in furthering your knowledge of your chosen topic.
Example:
I chose to read _________________ because……
What interested me about the topic was………..
As a follow-up to the book I chose to do further research on the topic of…………
I found two articles of interest from X source and Y source.
P2: Article 1 summary
P3: Article 2 summary
P4: Conclusion
Your conclusion should state which of your two articles, the peer reviewed, or the popular article, you felt offered you more information and allowed you to learn more about your research topic. Your conclusion paragraph should also tell your opinion of the book you read and if you would recommend the book to a friend.
Example: After reading and reviewing both articles I thought ……..was better at conveying information.
I would/would not recommend the book to a friend. I hope/hope not to learn more about the topic in the future.
